Cardstock Only Challenge

 

My sister and I decided to create a monthly challenge for card making.  We choose a Youtube video that features a cardstock only project.  The video is by Gerry's Craft Room.   It was a true challenge to put aside all of the embellishments and decorations I would normally use.

 

I started with three colors of 110lb cardstock and a Cuttlebug embossing folder. The folder is called Blossom Dance by Anna Griffin.  I love the floral pattern of this folder.

 

I cut the pieces so that they would be nicely layered.  The embossed piece is the top layer.  I use double sided sticky tape from Sookwang.

 

I used the same shades of cardstock for the diecuts.  All of the dies are unbranded.  I cut the leaves apart and used them around the flowers.

Colorful Leaves

 

This cute little card was inspired by Spellbinders.  They have a short video showing how to create this colorful design.

 

I started with an unbranded leaf die and cut it three times from a piece of cream colored cardstock.  

 

 

Then I used blender brushes and Distress Oxide inks to create a background.   I did not want the lines to be crisp - I wanted a mix of the colors that would provide interest through the leaf layer.  I added a simple sentiment stamped with black Versafine ink.  I love how it turned out.

Pocket Card Swap

 

I created this pocket card for a FB swap in the group, Let's Make Cards.  I had never created one of these before, so I had to do a little research.  Luckily, I happened to have one of the 9-section page protectors in my stash.  These are typically used for baseball cards, but they make great ATC holders.

 

Each of the nine pockets contains a mini card, embellished with all types of goodies.  I tried to keep the decorations as flat as possible knowing that the whole page gets folded into thirds and mailed in a business sized envelope. This is a great way to use up small bits and scraps.

 

While the front has a card in each slot, the back contains all kinds of little embellishments for the recipient to use on their creations.  I included ribbons, sequins, diecuts and stickers.  I hope my partner enjoys these little tidbits.

 

I even stamped some art onto the envelope for fun.  I am looking forward to seeing what my partner, Debbie, created for me.

Happy Spring

The newest challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters is Spring.  I love it when winter fades into warm days and lots of garden blooms.

 

I started by coloring watercolor paper with Distress Oxide sprays in shades of blue and purple.  I used these papers to die cut the pot and the little forget-me-not flowers.

 

I added tiny iridescent crystals to all of the flower centers.  The macrame plant hanger is an unbranded die.

 I used a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp for the spring sentiment.  I added a little blueprint sketch oxide ink around the edges.  A little foam tape makes the sentiment strip pop.

New Decorative Plaque Die Cuts

 

I love these new specialty card stock decorative elements for cards.  These are available in my Etsy store, PaperiebyJennifer.   These intricate die cuts will really spruce up your next project.

 

Think of the layering possibilities.  You could easily add your hand stamped sentiment to these decorative plaques.  Come back regularly to see new color combinations.  These are available as single colors, but the color variations change each time I cut them.

 

I love to use mirrorcard and satin mirrorcard or these pretty die cuts.

Easter Challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters

 

It is time for the next card challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters.  The new theme is Easter.  I created this Easter card using lots of glitter paper and die cuts.

 

The Happy Easter sentiment and the little bunnies are cut from brown glitter paper from American Crafts.  The holographic pink cardstock is from a 6 inch DCWV stack. 

 

All of the cutting dies are unbranded.  The Easter egg, although intricate, cut and weeded beautifully.
