Recipe Card Challenge

Our newest challenge at Ruby's Rainbow Challenges is a recipe card.  The recipe must contain flowers, pearls and a charm.  I used lace, pearl gems and lots of flowers to embellish my birdcage.  Pop on over to Ruby's Rainbow to see what the rest of the design team created.

I am also entering this card in the Fussy and Fancy design team call.  I would love to be a part of this fun team.  I am kind of an embellishment junkie, so I think I would love working with these girls.  Pop over to the Fussy and Fancy blog to see what they have been creating.

"U" is for Umbrella

Today's challenge at the Alphabet Challenge blog is "U" for umbrella.  I chose a vintage advertisement paper for my background with a vintage postcard umbrella image on top.  I added lace over a Martha Stewart border punch and a crystal frame around the pretty umbrella.  An old fashioned cameo finishes off my card.

This was a big challenge for me, because I had absolutely no umbrella stickers, paper or embellishments.  I am amazed at the beautiful images you can find online.  Hop over to Alphabet Challenges and show us what you create using an umbrella.

I am also entering this card in:

Flutterby

Our challenge at Ruby's Rainbow is to create something using pink and blue.  I opted for lots of lace and flowers and a sparkly butterfly.  I started with old fashioned pink and blue paper from a DCWV stack.  I used a Martha Stewart lacy border punch for the bottom and vintage lace and pink rose ribbon for the side.  I added a little pink crystal flourish and topped the card with lots of soft flowers.  I wouldn't normally use these soft colors this time of the year, which is what makes these challenges so much fun.  It is good to be challenged.  Stop by Ruby's Rainbow to see what the rest of the design team created - we want to see yours too!

Halloween Creepiness

I was inspired by Oh My C.R.A.F.T.S. to create mini coffins for Halloween this year.  I found a cutter file for my CraftRobo and the kids and I cut tons of them.  I decorated this one for my mother-in-law.  I added a few stickers and black pom pom trim around the edges.  It was the perfect gift box for a pair of earrings.

This was the creepy card I made for her to go with the coffin.  I found the ticket images on Etsy at Iralamija's shop.  They have tons of vintage image files.  The black lace was perfect.  The bat and creepy bannet stickers are both from Jolees - they make the most detailed designs.

Have a Beary Christmas

This month's challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenges is to use a bear image on your creation.  I chose an image that was already colored and added a little glitter.  I created the punched border with a Martha Stewart punch and added vintage lace and seam binding ribbon with my tiny attacher.  The garland is from Tim Holtz and the three glittery ornaments are from Jolees.  The winner of this challenge will receive three digital images from Pink Gem Designs

Halloween Card Challenge

The current challenge at Ruby's Rainbow Challenges is Halloween or Halloween colors.  My card is bright and colorful with rhinestones and candy corn ribbon.  The pumpkin sticker is from K & Co. and the BOO pennant sticker is from Jolee's.  I usually make dark, scary Halloween cards, but this one was bright and fun.  Join us at Ruby's Rainbow to see what our design team created.  We would love to see what you make too.

S is for Scary

S is for Scary at Alphabet Challenges this week.  Halloween is just around the corner and I have been using my CraftRobo to cut out lots and lots of bats.  The kids have been hanging them all over the house.  For my scary card, I used a leftover sheet of bat cutouts with a piece of pom pom trim.  I embellished with a few stickers and crystals and voila, a scary card.  Be sure to join us at Alphabet Challenges to see what the rest of the design team created.

Shabby Chic Butterfly

I created this shabby chic style card for a sketch challenge at Cardabilities.  I started with distressed, torn paper from the DCVW Modern Meadow stack and added a punched border.  I used my Martha Stewart fringe scissors to turn a polka-dot fabric circle into a flower.  I added a K & Co. butterfly diecut and lots of flowers with a twine bow and a button.

Vintage Silhouette

My latest card is still inspired by the talented, vintage, shabby chic team at Vintage Card Cafe.  I started with a striped background and added a torn and distressed piece of paper.  I used one of my Martha Stewart punches and added a crystal silhouette sticker to a cintage style bingo game board.  I added a little twine, lace and crystal gems as well as a bird tag tied with a piece of seam binding ribbon.  A cluster of jewels including a cameo finish the card with a vintage flair.

Buttons, Buttons, Buttons

It is time for the next challenge at Ruby's Rainbow.  The theme is buttons.  I used lots of vintage, well-worn buttons on this card that I made for my mother-in-law's birthday.  I added torn and distressed paper, a bit of vintage lace from an antique store and lots of pretty flowers.  A distressed doily is peeking out from under the chocolate colored butterfly and I used several pearl gems in antique colors.  The sentiment is a diecut from K & Co.  Be sure and stop by Ruby's Rainbow to see what the other talented design team members created with their buttons.

Shabby Chic Vintage Card

I found a group of vintage style card makers at the Vintage Card Cafe blog.  These ladies have the most beautiful vintage styles.  It requires the Google translator to be able to read their text, but the pictures are amazing.  Their current challenge is to make a shabby chic card in brown and beige tones.  Stop by and see their inspiring creations.

I used lace and crystal stickers, hand dyed vintage seam binding ribbon, vintage lace, a shabby chic flower, a vintage postcard birthday greeting and pearl stickers.  The bird is a K & Co. diecut that I glittered and everything has been Distress inked.

Autumn Leaves

I have wanted the Tattered Leaves cutting die from Tim Holtz for a long time.  I am so excited to finally have it!  I used lots and lots of fall colored papers and my children helped me cut tons of leaves this evening.  Now it is time to create something with them.

Autumnal Colors

Our current challenge at Ruby's Rainbow Challenges is to create a card using turquoise, orange and yellow colors.  I intended to make a brighter card, but the Autumn theme just came together.  I used sparkly pinecone stickers from Jolee's, a collage of leaves and a turquoise colored rhinestone flourish.  I also added a little lace and vintage seam binding ribbon.  Be sure to stop by Ruby's to see what the other design team members created.  We would love to see what you can do with these colors too.

Shabby Chic Birdcage Card

I created this card using colors that I consider to be non-traditional for a bird and a birdcage.  Most of my bird themed creations tend to be blue (maye that's because the Indigo Bunting is my favorite bird).  I love the softness of this card and the shabby chic look that was the result.  I added vintage lace and a little bit of sparkle too.  I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Anything but a Card

The current challenge at Sparkles Christmas Challenges is to make anything except a card.  I always need decorative gift tags for Christmas presents, so I made a few of them.  Tags are a great way to use up scraps and leftovers.  They are all miniature works of art.  Our sponsor for this challenge is Di's Digis.  Be sure to check her out - she has lots of pretty images.

Q is for Quilting

Our current challenge at Alphabet Challenges, is Q is for Quilting.  I used an interpretation of the wedding ring quilt design.  I added fabric flowers that I diecut with the Vagabond.  I continued with the sewing theme by embellishing the flowers with buttons.  I even had a wooden ruler perfect for measuring your fabric.  Please join us at Alphabet Challenges and see what the oher design team members have created.

Team Spirit

The current challenge at Ruby's Rainbow Challenges is to create something with the team spirit theme.  I chose a medallion with ribbons for my centerpiece.  I added lots of sparkly crystals red seam binding ribbon.  The jeweled ribbon in black made just the right ending.  Join us at Ruby's Rainbow and show us your team spirit!

I am also submitting this card in the Anything Goes with Ribbon challenge at Crafty Ribbons.

Simple is Elegant

It has been quite awhile since I have created a card for the challenges in the magazine, 75 Creative Card Challenges.  The sixth challenge is to use nothing but stickers.  No patterned paper layers or additional embellishments were allowed.  This was tough!  I pretty much always start with patterned paper layers on my cardstock.  The result was simple, yet elegant.  On to the next challenge!

It's Time for Ice Cream

The current challenge at Ruby's Rainbow Challenges is Food and Drink.  I found this fun ice cream background paper with a matching sticker.  The ribbon is from the Making Memories Bravissimo line and I love these decorations.  You can add anything to them.  This card needed a little bit of sparkle, so I added lots of crystals.  Join us at Ruby's Rainbow to see what the other talented design team members created.

Vintage Tags

The current challenge at Ruby's Rainbow Challenges is Vintage.  I have chosen vintage elements to create these rustic tags.  I have used vintage lace found at an antique store and hand dyed vintage seam ribbon. The little mushrooms are new, but I tinted them with distress ink and shimmer spray.  I love the burlap paper that I found at JoAnn's.  Stop by Ruby's to see what the rest of the design team members have created and welcome our newest members to the team.

I am entering these tags in the Pile It On No Designer Papers Challenge.

Micro / Mini Elements Card

This is my card for the Alphabet Challenges M for micro / mini or brad challenge.  We had to use little bitty elements on our project.  I chose tiny butterflies for my design.  I added lace (of course) and a couple of leaf pins.  This was a difficult challenge since I discovered that I don't have a lot of mini elements to work with.  Sounds like I need a shopping trip!  Be sure and stop by Alphabet Challenges to see the beautiful work of our other design team members.
