Thinking of You

Welcome to the newest challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog.  The theme for the new challenge is "It's the Thought that Counts".  Show us your creations where the sentiment takes center stage.

I used this large, thinking of you sentiment die and cut it from textured cardstock from Tonic Studios.  I added a glittery frame and a tiny crystal to dot the "i".  The star of the show is without a doubt, the beautiful marbled paper background.  My sister creates these works of art.  You can find them in her Etsy shop, CraftFanaticDesigns.

Masculine Card

Welcome to the newest challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog.  Everyone needs masculine cards from time to time.  This card was perfect for a customer's son-in-law.  Be sure to join us at the challenge blog and show us your creations.

I started with patterned paper and added a geometric background die cut.  Then I grabbed the Tonic Studios textured cardstock for the rectangle, sentiment and the car.   This cardstock is fabuous to work with.  It has a pearly sheen and beautiful texture.  All dies are unbranded.

Be sure to join our challenge and show us your creations.

Shimmer Background Papers

I just created these amazing backgrounds to use on card designs.  I love these deep embossing folder designs.  They leave such an intricate impression.  Each background is super shimmery with different colors of shimmer spray.

These are available in my Etsy shop PaperieByJennifer.

Have a Lovely Day

The August theme at Pearly Sparkles Challenges is Anything Goes.  I created this pretty card using one of my sister's fabulous marlbed background papers. Each background is unique as well as double sided.  She uses watercolor paper and the colors are just dreamy.  You can find them in her Etsy shop, CraftFanaticDesigns.

I added some fun die cuts and even a little rubber stamping for the sentiment.  I hope you will join the challenge and show us your creations.

Take me to the Beach

Welcome to the newest challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog.  Everyone loves the beach.  This is the new theme for our challenge.  Be sure to join us at the challenge blog and show us your creations.

I started with wave shaped cutting dies.  I found an ancient K&Co.paper pad with an ocean theme.  This is why I never get rid of craft supplies.  You just may need them!  I layered the papers together and added some coordinating K&Co. chipboard stickers.

I just received these cute little Adirondack chairs so I thought they would be perfect for watching the waves roll in.

Ink it Up!

Welcome to the newest challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog.  This time, it is my turn to host the challenge.  I love to use ink on my projects so the new challenge is to use ink  on your creation.  Be sure to join us at the challenge blog and show us your creations.

I love the Distress Oxide inks and I found these blending brushes work beautifully to apply the colors.  I used  simple stripe pattern and blended the colors where they overlapped.  This made a nice background for the baby card.  I think I will be using the new Speckled Egg color on everything for awhile.

I used a few unbranded dies to create the embellishments.  I love the new rose flower background die - the edges are really unique.  I cut this from mirrorcard and you can find these in my Etsy shop, PaperiebyJennifer.  I used white glitter cardstock for the onesie and BABY sentiment.  This was the perfect color choice since this baby card is for parents who did not find out the gender of the baby.  I love it!

Be sure to show us your favorite inking techniques on the blog!

Three of a Kind Challenge

The July theme at Pearly Sparkles Challenges is for Three of a Kind.  I chose to use three butterflies on this pretty collage style card.  I love these goopy, full cards.  I present these in a clear gift box since they are too dimensional for a standard envelope.

I started with layered papers and die cuts.  I always love to add lots of beautiful flowers and lace or ribbon.  The green buckle holding the lace is a metal piece that has been in my stash forever.

My first butterfly is a die cut that I cut from holographic cardstock.  You can find them at PaperiebyJennifer.  The other two butterflies are ephemera snippets.

I used Nuvo drops in several places on the card.  I love the dimension they give.

I hope you will join us at Pearly Sparkles Challenges.  We would love to see what you create!

Use a Stencil Card Challenge

elcome to the newest challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog.  This challenge is to  use a stencil in your creation.  Be sure to join us at the challenge blog and show us your creations.

I started with DecoFoil gel over a hexagon patterned stencil.  I let the gel dry over night and then heated up my laminator to foil the background.  The results are pretty cool.

Next, I added mirrorcard die cuts in layers to create the flowers and leaves.  The little acrylic gems finish off the flower centers.  The Happy Birthday circle die cut will be available in my Etsy shop, PaperieByJennifer, very soon.

Be sure to stop by the challenge blog!

Here Comes the Bride

Welcome to the newest challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog.  This challenge is to create a wedding card.

I blended specialty cardstock and die cuts to create this giftable card.  I used Tonic Studios glitter cardstock for the wedding bells and the sentiment is from one of their monthly craft kits.  I always like to convey best wishes to the couple as it is tradition to say congratulations only to the groom.

I hope you will join us at The Sisterhood Challenges and we look forward to seeing your wedding creations.

For the Boys - Pearly Sparkles Challenge

The theme of my first challenge as a design team member at Pearly Sparkles Challenges is for The Boys/Men.  I chose a pirate ship die cut from black glitter cardstock for my main image.  I liked the look of the "shiplap" background even though the wood is vertical.

I inked the background using Stormy Sky and Frayed Burlap Oxide inks and these blending brushes.  I like using these brushes for all of my backgrounds.  I left the middle uncovered since I knew the die cut was going to cover it up.  Can't waste the precious ink!

I love how this turned out and it will be used as one of the three Father's Day cards I need to create.  Be sure to join us at Pearly Sparkles Challenges and show us your creation for the guys.

Favorite Technique

Welcome to the newest challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters challenge blog.  This challenge is to create something using your favorite technique.

My current favorite technique is stacked or layered die cuts.  By layering pieces together, you can create really nice definition in your die cuts.  They stand up and stand out without adding too much bulk to a card.  You can use multiple pieces of the same die cut and glue the layers together or you can cut the die cut a second time from foam.  Either way, you glue the layers together with liquid adhesive.  I like to use Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive from Tonic Studios.

I also love to use flowers in my creations - I don't think you can ever have enough flowers.  Sometimes I create my own using cutting dies.

Be sure to hop over to The Sisterhood to see the beautiful creations of the other design team members as well as submissions from other talented crafters.

Birds Bees and Butterflies

Join us at The Sisterhood of Crafters for the newest challenge, Birds, Bees and Butterflies.   I had a lot of fun finding the right die cuts for this challenge.  I started with a gold embossed background colored with Distress Oxide inks.

I added a gold textured bird cut from Tonic Studios paper.  I used metallic cardstock for the Thinking of You and the pretty butterfly die cuts.  These are all available in my Etsy die cut store, PaperiebyJennifer.

Be sure to join us at The Sisterhood of Crafters - we would love to see your creation!

Colorful Layered Succulents

I had so much fun creating colorful layered succulents with the Succulent die cutting set from The Greetery.  I started with spray ink backgrounds and cut several different sets from these colors.  I mixed and matched to create colorful succulents.

Birthday Folded Card

The newest challenge at The Sisterhood of Crafters is to create a fun fold and/or birthday project.  I decided to do both.  The fold part is unusual because the card opens by opening the bottom birthday downward and opening the candle, floral section updawards.  The inside is blank for your personal message.

This was a fun challenge - I typically make all of my cards the same way so I enjoyed working on this.  I received the fun candles from our die swap in the Facebook group, Better by the Dozen Die Cut Swap.  Stop by FB and check it out.

The Happy Birthday sentiment is available in glitter and mirrorcard colors in my Etsy store, PaperiebyJennifer.

Be sure to join us at the challenge blog and show us your creation.

Black Cardstock Card Challenge

I rarely use black cardstock in my designs unless it is for an accent.  In fact I mostly have it for Halloween bats and spider webs.  My neice, Lani, decided our next card challenge should be to create something using black cardstock.

I started by embossing the Leaf Canopy stamps from Altenew with Nuvo white embossing powder.  This was a multi-step process in order to cover the whole background.  Then I used Prima Metallic Watercolors to fill in the leaves.  I thought about filling in the background with white watercolor, but in the end I left the black so the colors would pop.

I would love to see your designs using black cardstock. Click the Linky Tool below to show us your creation.

A Collection of Cards - Feeling Creative

I have been able to create a few more cards than normal since I have been working remotely.  It has been fun to grab some of my elements and get things finished.  This one uses Tim Holtz's funky floral dies that I inked with Distress Oxide Inks.  The rectangle die is unbranded.  I love the crystal gems from Nuvo.

This one is simple but it was fun to create.  I used Distress Spray Stains as watercolors.  The image was heat embossed with Classic Gold embossing powder from Nuvo.  It is my favorite EP ever.

This was a pretty flower that I colored with Lindy's Magicals.  I think the blue tones work well with the silver embossing powder.

I had an extra macrame plant hanger in my stash, so I decided to add some iridescent leaf die cuts and complementary acrylic gems.

These were fun collage style cards that I made from an ephemera pack from Canvas Corp.  The objective was to use lots of texture.  They both start with a layer of inked canvas material.  I love the vintage style.
